Black cherry, anise and plum with hints of smokey charcoal for the nose. Very refined tannic backbone, although well integrated at this stage. Medium bodied with a semi dry mouthfeel. Cherry and licorice flavors with an earthy character on the palate. Medium to long finish with a fair amount of spice only showing at the end. A very different and unusual wine which paired nicely with New Zealand leg of lamb, roasted potatoes and mixed green vegetables.
