Somerled is one of the most exciting new labels to come from South Australia and has arrived on the scene with a super premium Shiraz from McLaren Vale.
Stylish, with good structure, fleshy fruit, meaty with tight balanced acidity, paper tannins and a warm and long finish.
BONUS Wines:
1 x Binder Mitchel Shiraz 2002 (RRP $30)
Lovely fruit, bold and spicy. Black cherries, high alcohol, velvety palate, chewy tannins and great structure.
1 x Charles Cimiky Reserve Shiraz 2000 (RRP $55)
Showing development with flavours of prune, leather, cedar, spice and plum evolving, followed by white pepper back palate. Fine, dryish tannins, with aftertaste of cedar, leather and liquorice.
1 x Mt Langi Cabernet Merlot 1998 (RRP $55)
The aromatic characters are repeated on the palate which has plenty of fruit weight and sweetness offset by fine tannins and subtle oak. Top vintage.
1 x Norman Chais Shiraz 1999 (RRP $75)
Intense sweet flavours of blackberry and plum, combining with inky choc-mint and aniseed, fill the mouth. Subtle oak-derived coconut and cinnamon add complexity to the wine, which finishes with excellent length and lingering sweet fruit making its 14.5 alcohol unnoticeable.
1 x Paul Linder Shiraz 2002 (RRP $30)
Raspberries, sweet black cherries, spices and spearmint. Very seductive with lovely balance. Not the typical Barossa style, a more medium bodied elegant style with lovely fruit concentration and purity to it. Good balance between the fruit, acid and tannin. The finish is long and clean.
1 x Tatachilla Shiraz 1999 (RRP $55)
Super-concentrated, rich, ripe and fleshy, with roasted meat flavours. Prominent, ripe tannins provide structure.
